RamanaMaharshi Yahoo Group[recently re-opened]- The Ramana Maharshi Yahoogroup which closed in October 2006 after serving the needs of devotees since it began, in 1999, has been re-opened by a long-time Ramana devotee. The membership which was approaching 1000 at the time of closure is once again climbing. While it is great to see that Sri Ramana, his life and teaching remains of interest to so many, it saddens to see the simple core message, and practice, deteriorating at such a rapid rate. Sri Achalanam re-started the Ramana group after he had experienced this deterioration firsthand. A simple attempt to initiate a discussion about Ramana Maharshi's core message, as opposed to the woolly new age interpretations that abound, resulted in him being asked to leave a group. When he suggested a Ramana Maharshi Group revival, I acceded to his request. In death, perhaps understandably, the personality of Ramana has become more important than the valiant words of Maharshi - while this may suffice for some folks, others seek balance.
